Residential high-rise | Straubing
The process was designed as a cooperative competition in two processing stages with a preceding application process and was funded as part of the model project "e%-Energy-efficient Housing" of the Supreme Building Authority in the Bavarian State Ministry. For this competition, we formed a working group with the Leipzig landscape architect Matthias Lanzendorf and the building services office Günther Grünewald from Chemnitz.
Our design is shaped by urban planning considerations and the conviction to reinterpret the structural deficits of the existing building into new, surprising spatial qualities.
By intensively examining the topic of variability in facade design, answers to the most pressing problems in high-rise construction are found.
A differentiated housing offering with a mix of subsidized and privately financed apartments and a focus on the neighborhood spirit offers the best conditions for sustainable building renovation.
